Indian passport photo requirements depend on the application channel and applicant’s age. Passport Seva specifies 35×45mm photos for children under four; check the instructions for your own appointment or overseas mission.

This preset exports 630×810 pixels. Confirm the accepted pixel dimensions, file type and size with the application portal before uploading.
Rules specific to India
- Neutral expression, mouth closed, face square to the camera.
- Do not sign the photograph.
- For children under 4, the face must occupy 80–85% of the frame and the full head from top of hair to bottom of chin must be shown.
Why passport photos get rejected
- Check framing, lighting and the current application instructions. A correctly sized crop alone does not guarantee acceptance.
