Tips for Better 3D Text

Go Bold for 3D

Heavier weights extrude into solid, readable shapes. Thin strokes turn into fragile walls — especially important if you plan to 3D print.

Keep It Short

One or two words make a strong 3D mark. Long phrases get thin and hard to read once extruded — split them across multiple exports.

Balance Depth and Bevel

Deep extrusion with a small bevel looks industrial; shallow depth with a generous bevel looks like polished signage. Try both extremes to find your style.

Backplate for Printing

Letters like "i" and disconnected words become separate pieces in a printer. The backplate binds everything into one solid object.

Color Is for GLB and PNG

Your chosen color exports in GLB and shows in PNG snapshots. STL is always colorless — pick the color at print time via filament instead.

Frame Before You Snapshot

The PNG export captures the current camera view. Rotate and zoom to a flattering three-quarter angle before downloading.

Effect generators output a flat image with fake shading. This tool builds real 3D geometry — actual extruded meshes you can rotate, light, open in Blender, place in AR, or 3D print. The PNG export is there when you just need an image, but the model behind it is genuinely 3D.
Yes. Export STL and open it in any slicer (Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio). Turn on the backplate first so disconnected letters print as one solid piece instead of separate loose parts.
The STL format stores geometry only — that's a limitation of the format itself, not the tool. Export GLB to keep your chosen color; for printing, the color comes from your filament.
Bold and black weights extrude into sturdy, readable 3D shapes and are the safest for 3D printing. Thin fonts look elegant on screen but produce fragile geometry — if letters look wispy, step up the weight.
Short text works best — a word or short phrase reads clearly in 3D and rebuilds. Very long text produces a wide, thin model; consider splitting it into multiple exports.
Selected file contents are processed in your browser without being sent to an application upload endpoint. Loading the site, fonts or processing libraries may still require network requests.
